So many cards have special military programs that you can take advantage of. While you’re serving, determining which credit card to get may not be something you have time to research.

PenFed Power Cash Rewards Visa Signature Card

This card is great when it comes to cash back rewards.

If you have joined the Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed), you can earn additional rewards and cash back opportunities. Those in the union will get an extra 0.5% back on purchases, taking the total percentage of cash back rewards of up to 2%.

This card is a top pick because it’s easy to use and you don’t have to deal with any loopholes when it comes to the cash back process. Many cards make promises of cash back but then don’t live up to what they promise when you read the fine print.

This card has no annual fee and offers 0% APR for the first 12 months.

Once your first year is up, your APR can live anywhere between 11.49% – 17.99%, depending on your credit.

USAA Cashback Rewards Plus American Express Card

This card is perfect for those stationed on a military base.

This card has no annual fee and offers 4% APR for your first 12 months.

When you spend your first $3,000, you can get 5% cash back when you spend at places that qualify through the military partnership and when you buy gas.

When you spend at participating grocery stores you’ll get 2% cashback on your first $3,000 worth of purchases and 1% cashback on all purchases at other locations.

This card also offers rental car coverage and there is no fee if you use it while out of the country.

To reap the most rewards from this card be sure to use it for all purchases on base, when you get gas and any time you grocery shop.

Go Rewards Credit Card

If you find yourself eating out at restaurants quite frequently, this is the best option for you.

You can earn rewards every time you dine out.

This is a points-based card where you’ll earn 3 points for every $1 you spend at a restaurant. You can earn points on other purchases outside of dining as well but the points will be fewer and harder to accumulate.

There is no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee and when you pay your cell phone bill using this card, you qualify for phone insurance.

It does, however, have a variable APR so this card is best to use if you know you can pay off the balance so you don’t get stuck spending money on interest.
